McCarthy Family Cemetery

This cemetery was located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Highway 75/Bravo Roads. In the early 1980s, all of the remaining graves were exhumed and moved to the Cowles Hill Cemetery for reinterment during the Highway 75 widening project. Robert McCarthy's gravestone was the last remaining marker at the cemetery prior to the removal of the graves.
The history of the family plots are unknown, but there were at least two persons buried there, one being that of Robert McCarthy, brother of John McCarthy, and that of Forthy McCarthy, who is believed to be an infant child of John and Emma McCarthy. The following biographies of John and Robert McCarthy, along with the obituary of John's wife, Emma McCarthy, describe their lives in more detail.
