Bloomingdale Family Cemetery

This cemetery is located on private property in the Otoe precinct, and is located 0.15 mile to the north of the intersection of 62nd and 'P' roads.  The cemetery is located on the east side of the road, in a small  grove of trees, and is surrounded by a small wrought-iron fence and gate.

The history of the family plots are unknown, but there are two persons buried there, one being Farel Bloomingdale, son of A. Bloomingdale and Jane (Wolcott) Bloomingdale, buried there in 1880, and the other being Horace Wolcott, father of Jane Bloomingdale, buried there in 1882.  According to family sources, Horace Wolcott requested to be buried under a tree, with no gravestone.  Thus, he and his grandson, Farel, are buried in the small grove of trees with no gravestones.  The plot is marked off with a small wrought-iron fence and gate though, which is in a great state of disrepair, but is clearly visible from the road though.

Burial Listing:A complete listing of burials has been compiled by the Otoe County Genealogical Society, and can be found in our 'Otoe County Cemeteries' CD-ROM, which is available for purchase on our Publications web page.
